Blocking draft from front door?
Hi,
I am trying to seal the gap around the side of my front door so as to stop the draft coming in. Is there any way I can do this bearing in mind that i’m hopeless at DIY!!!
I’ve heard about self stick insulation foam and non expanding insulation spray foam but i’ve no idea which would be better? Also, I’ve no idea where I could find either????

Leave the spray foam alone, it’s very messy and you may regret using it.
You can buy self adhesive foam strips to stick where the door meets the frame. It’s easy and can be removed if you get it wrong!
Try hardware shops. DIY, even Woolworths and Wilkinsons stock it.
I’m guessing that you mean between the door and frame not frame and wall which would have to be sealed with mastic.

Wal Mart and Home Depot carry the self stick strips. You just run it down the side of the door and cut it off at the bottom. The spray is for filling permanent spots, not moving parts like doors. My 12 year old did this for me at our last house, so don’t worry about your helplessness.

there is nothing better than a good old heavy curtain ( velvet ) hanging if you get stuck and can put up a rail .

The best way to stop a draft is from the outside. There is a strip sold that has a round rubber hollow beading running the length of it. Basically you cut to length, close door and on the out side you push beading against door and pin it to the door frame. I have tried many over the years and this is the most effective.
