Condensation in shed need help?
So i built a shed. I insulated the 2×4 walls but did not get to the ceiling yet. It’s cool outside and when I warm up the shed via space heater or even on a warm day, I get condensation in the insulation and in the rafter beams. I have a few nails sticking through from outside and they bead up and later drip, the joist brackets are beading up too. The siding LP is beading up too on the inside. I put some 1/8 inch wood paneling on the inside and it’s getting wet and the screws I used to put it up also beads and gets wet. This condensation is only happening on the sides that don’t get any sun. I put a sheet metal roofing on top of 15 lb felt over plywood. I know the shed is not leaking as it does this only when its warm in the shed. How can I fix this? My concern is that if I insulate the roof and seal it off with wood it will continue to condensate inside and then mold. I was thinking of getting some of that Foam Insulation board to put between the joists. But then today I saw the joist brackets beading up too. So Do I need to put on thicker siding or just insulate the ceiling and cover? Do I need to do those things and put vents up there? Seriously, just telling me to put a moisture barrier up doesn’t help, I need some detailed help before the thing molds. Thank you for your help. please see pic http://i636.photobucket.com/albums/uu85/centrapoint/Shed.jpg
You need to install ventilation, even if it is the smaller ones. Just something to let the air flow a little.
My shed did’nt have them when we bought the house and it has created mold, mildew and in the summer the stench will knock you over.
