What kind of foam insulation should I use under my vinyl siding?
Apr 14
Foam Insulation seems to come in size from 3/8" to 2". I'm tending to think 3/8" or 1/2". This is going on top of my old shingles. Is there any guidelines for this? I'm in NY with 4" stud walls and tongue and groove wall under the old shingles. The old shingles by the way were asbestos which I was advised to keep due to costly removal costs.
Go at least 1/2 "…maybe even 3/4" with foil covering on both sides. That foil sheeting will help keep heat out in summer and the heat in during the winter. Once you install foam sheeting….use some duct tape on seams to help seal it even better. Also around the windows spray in the can foam insulation to help seal those gaps.
What is some good advice when it comes to spray foam insulation?
