Karen and Stuart are returning to Canton, Il and looking for a not-so-big house. They are a great couple. Stuart will be setting up a Christian Counseling private practicde. Karen is an RN, and will be working in the area as soon as the right job comes up. The house we inspected is built on a slab foundation. The question of moisture intrusion and heat loss is always a concern in older slab homes, built before Rigid FoamFoam Insulation and plastic moisture barriers. In this house the HVAC ductwork is embedded in the slab. There will always be some energy loss from the slab to the earth below, and transfer of moisture from the earth through the slab to the house. Using a very sensitive moisture meter we were able to find one area one an outside wall where the carpet was quite moist.
